I found this 1948 photo of the front of St. Joe's in the archives at St. Patrick's library. Notice that the rhet wing (left) was not there yet and the tower top was different. BELOW the courtyard and then the well traversed trail to Maryknoll which still stands and is used as a retirement center for priests.

SJS cloisters as they were in 1948--when most of us were just toddlers, and when Cal (Fr.Pierre Calegari) was just a student there and then. (Here Buz must have caught him in a "very serious" mood.) After giving us some of his best years, Pierre died at the age most of us are now, 59, from throat cancer. He and other profs there not only taught us well then, but inspired us for a lifetime. We will never forget these men and their dedication to our educational, spiritual, and emotional formation.
