1966 was quite a year for me. I left St Joesph's after the first trimester of Poet year.

After leaving in January of 1966 I went back to Price, Utah, and got a job where I had worked during my summer breaks, my sister's godfather's drug store. Within 6 months I got a reckless driving ticket, got married, and got drafted. The ticket made me a local hick town celebrity; the army showed me the world and gave me a college education and three homes on the G.I. bill; and the marriage É . Well I don't know what to say about it. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, etc" has already been taken but that pretty well sums it up. The U.S. Army had more staying power than the marriage. Ann and I divorced after nine years. I would ultimately spend 26 years (3 years active duty, 3 years inactive reserve, and 20 years active reserve duty) in the U.S. Army.

After my discharge from active duty, Ann and I remained in Seattle which was the last place I was stationed. I went to the University of Washington and got a degree in American History. I thought I wanted to teach. After doing some student teaching I had a Dr. Phil moment &endash; "What was I thinking!"

Beth and I met in 1983 and married in 1985 and again in 1987(required by the Catholic Church in order to get Sara baptized). Sara is now 19 years old and a junior at the University of Washington. Shortly after her birth we moved to Hawaii for 5 years. In Hawaii I was an STD clinician at Diamond Head Center in Honolulu. Moving to Hawaii was going home for Beth. She was born in Hawaii. Our son Anthony was born in Hawaii in 1991. He is now 16 years old.  flazarus@comcast.com

Going to school functions with my kids was always fun. I would meet the other parents and realized that they could be my children. I mentioned, once, to a friend of my daughter that I had been drafted during the Vietnam War. She had never heard of the war and had no idea whatsoever what a draft was. I may as well have told her I had once watered General Sherman's horse on his outing to Atlanta.

We now live in Bothell, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. I am a Public Health Investigator for the Snohomish Health District, the health department for Snohomish County. I have been here 15 years. Beth has worked for the Social Security Administration for 26 years.

Since leaving St Joe's I have seen Steve Essig twice, Dave Bernini four times ( I was the best man at his wedding and he was the best man at my first wedding), Ed Chiosso five times, Paul Warren once, Buz Meisel once, Father Cronin once and Father Gregorie probably six times. I ran into both Father Cronin and Father Gregorie at St Edwards Seminary in Kenmore, Washington. St Edwards is now a state park. Our home is about 5 minutes by car from the park.

There you go. Forty two years summarized in 7 paragraphs containing 521 words. Obviously much was left out, some intentionally because I'm unsure about the statue of limitations in different localities and some because I'm old and forgetful. Like a spilled bag of beans we have all rolled off in different directions and varying distances to take root in soils very different from one another.
