An Illustrated Biography

Preschool -- From about the age of three I have many fond memories of growing up in Belmont.

Elementary schooling --After kindergarten and first grade at Louis Barrett public school in Belmont, CA., my parents transferred me to Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) parochial school where I attended through eighth grade.

Secondary, college, postgrad --from ages 14-19 I attended St. Joseph's College, a minor seminary in Mountain View, CA,where I had a great education in the classics, played intermural sports, and met many fantastic people, peers and professors alike. I completed my college education at St. Patrick's Seminary in Palo Alto, CA. From there I attended Notre Dame College (now University) in Belmont, where I obtained Elementary and Secondary credentials, and later a Masters in the Art of Teaching (MAT).

Teaching career -- I did my student teaching at Bowditch Middle School in Foster City, and was hired as a sixth grade teacher in the Belmont School District in 1970. Four years later I moved to Ralston Junior High, later called Ralston Middle School, and would teach various subjects there for 30 years. (See my résumé.)

Retirement to now -- I retired in 2004 after 34 years of teaching in public education. It was a wonderful experience, but I felt it was time to move on. And yet I still have a passion for helping young people and adults to learn--just not as a full time teacher in a classroom. Since then I have tutored students individually, volunteered at a local high school, created several web sites for family and friends, and written several articles on education.
