Even though I'm only 14, I think I know enough about baseball to make some predictions. I have been loved baseball as long as I can remember. My grandma was raised around baseball, and her dad took her to many baseball games. She became a diehard Giant fan, taking me often to many games. I read Sport's Illustrated cover to cover, and read the newspaper Sports Page daily, and anything I can find about baseball. So here are my predictions.
NATIONAL |
LEAGUE |
AMERICAN |
LEAGUE |
For the National League, I predict Frank Robinson of the Washington Nationals because he took a last place team and made it a first place team after they moved from Montreal to Washington. |
In the American League, Ozzie Guillan who manages the White Sox is my pick because he made a mediocre team into a great time by bringing in better players and managing them better. |
For MVP in The National League I select Derrek Lee, first baseman for the Cubs because he's a triple crown threat, that is someone who leads in batting average, homeruns, and RBI's. |
In the American League, it's going to be Brian Roberts, who plays second for the Baltimore Orioles. He went from an average player to a great player by hitting better, leading the America League with a .341 as of July 22, 2005. |
The Cy Young Award is given to the best pitcher, and I think the best pitcher in the NL is Dontrelle Willis of the Florida who has a record of 14 wins and 4 losses as of July 22 of this year. (He's pitching to night.) |
For the AL I select John Garland of the Chicago Red Sox.
I choose Lance Niekro of the SF Giants because he leads all rookies in RBI's, homeruns, and batting average (279). He's an average first baseman. |
In the American I predict Robinson Cano, the second baseman of the Yankees. He's an outstanding hitter, batting .303 as of July 27, and an average fielder. |
Even though I'd like the Giant to, realistically I think the St. Louis Cardinals will win the league. |
PLAYOFFS: East: Washington Nationals, Central, St. Louis Cardinals,West San Diego Padres or the SF Giants (I hope), wildcard, the Atlanta Braves |
In the American League, I have to go with the New York Yankies. They're always there. |
PLAYOFFS: East: Yankees, Central, Chicago White Sox,West The Oakland A's, wildcard, the Boston Red Sox

I predict the Yanks because they have the best hitting, have great depth, and better than average pitching. |
Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriquez, and Gary Sheffield, and Hideki Matsui are some of their great players. And the great closer of all time Mariano Rivera. |
Jason Giambi's hitting great --it's almost like he's back on the juice. Home field advantage in Yankee Stadium is a real plus. |
