After leaving St. Joes in '66, I
fell into the food service/hospitality business while
attending College of Marin. I went to work for a small food
service distributor in May of '67 and ended up staying there
for over 30 years. I did everything at Bi-Rite, including
owning a part of the company for a while. My biggest success
was in street sales, primerily in San Francisco. I also was
Director of Purchasing, Contract sales Mgr.,and various
other positions. It was quite a ride and, looking back,
probably the best situation for me. Meanwhile, I married a
wonderful lady directly from "the olde sod", Ireland.
Kathleen and I have been together for over 33 years and have
two wonderful children. Brian, our son & oldest, is
currently a sales mgr. in specialized advertising for the
S.F.Chronicle. Our daughter, Erika, is the Assignment Editor
for CNN in Los Angeles. Both are college grads and Erika
graduated cum laude in 3 1/2 years from U.C. San Diego. My
wife, Kathleen, is a retired Nursing Supervisor from Marin
General Hospital. We have resided in Larkspur for 31 years
in the same home and plan to do some traveling soon. I retired from Bi-Rite 3 years ago
due to health concerns. I 've had two open heart surgeries,
a pace-maker inserted, and other issues, but I feel great
and attend Mass daily because I've got a lot to be thankful
for. Those days of driving 20M miles per year in the city
pretty much wore me out. We've been very blessed, despite
the "ups and downs" of married life, Kathleen and I are very
happy. I forgot to mention that I graduated fro St. Mary's College in Moraga in the Fall of '69.That technically makes me the class of "70. When was there, Dennis Flanagan room in the condo next to ours during my senior year. I also threw my arm out while pitching for the Gaels. Never been the same. -Jack jsnidermail@gmail.com
